December 18, 2014 - Effigy review on UberRock.com.

'Effigy' is a ten track album that features seven new tracks and three that were recorded way back when this band, Aittala, started off in 1993. They've released two albums after their early demo demise and this is the follow up to 2011's 'Haunt Your Flesh'.
Is it any good? Well, it has its moments whilst vearing from being Testament wannabes to Cuatro era Flotsam And Jetsam and if that's your thing then this could aid your boredom for a while. There's big shades of doom and pure heavy metal involved (and a smidgen of prog) but ultimately this is a '90s style thrash record that incorporates the slower groove that became the norm for a while back then.
They'll never be a top drawer band - too little too late - but they certainly aren't here to just go through the motions. Ten songs that don't dip in standard can only be admired and when any band play with such intent, you know that they're putting their heart and soul into it.
Fans of doom and the expanded thrash genre might just want to check this band out. What have you got to lose?

December 17, 2014 - We bid a fond farewell to Randall. He's leaving the band (again). But don't worry, it's on good terms and, who knows, he may be back someday.

But we got this new guy, Matt. His first show with Aittala will be on Jan 10th at the Wake the Dead Fest in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Welcome aboard Matt!

December 5, 2014 - New shirts coming soon!

September 22, 2014 - Review of 'Effigy' from Thoughts of Metal. Here's an excerpt:

"AITTALA managed to positively surprise me two years ago with “Haunt Your Flesh”. This time I feared a little, considering the number of slow(er) songs, but in the end, “Effigy” turned out all right. The mix of Heavy, Power, Stoner, and Doom Metal resulted in a very tasty aural dish. And it shows Eric and co. try to explore several directions to keep things varied and interesting. Check it out!"

August 14, 2014 - Review of 'Effigy' from Loud Mouth. Here's an excerpt:

"The arrangements created by this trio truly bring up the feeling of a well oiled machine, showcasing these musicians ability to create music worthy of a steady following and a listening ear!"

August 9, 2014 - Check out our interview with online magazine Stalker. Read it here!

June 29, 2014 - Review of 'Effigy' from Metal Temple. They gave it 2/5. Oh well, it's a review; not everyone's going to love what you do. But it includes some good comments:

"By far, AITTALA deserve some recognition however for the attitude they have and throw out in their music. As much as the record in itself isn’t doing much for me, I can imagine that live – these guys would knock your fluffy little socks off. How do I know that? Like I said, you can feel the attitude in the music and that’ll reflect in their performances making it a bit more epic than on a studio record.

June 17, 2014 - 'Effigy' is released!
You can find it at the usual digital retailers such as Amazon, iTunes & Spotify.

May 18, 2014 - First review of 'Effigy'. Here's an excerpt:

"There is plenty of variety (music-wise) with subtle shades of classic heavy metal, doom metal, progressive rock, dark metal, thrash, industrial metal and hard rock all coming into play. And more so it all gels in such a manor as to make the whole affair seem down-right natural! If you are looking for a heavy metal album that will keep you entertained and invested in the music at hand then this one would fit that bill. Pound for pound this one just does not disappoint!"

September 30, 2012 - Review of Haunt Your Flesh from Thoughts of Metal.

Excerpt from the write up:
"AITTALA is a new band for me and I have to admit it was a pleasant experience. Eric and co. present on their second album, “Haunt Your Flesh”, a nice mix of Groovy Rock, Heavy and Power Metal. And the small Industrial influence. Or in terms of bands: THIN LIZZY meets SANDSTONE meets (late) SAVATAGE meets METALLICA (the black album era) meets (add a band). Or in short, Eric Aittala can be proud of this release. Anyone having a taste for the aforementioned can safely buy this album."

September 4, 2012 - Tshirts coming soon!

August 5, 2012 - We finally have some merch (yeah, we've been a little lazy with it).
Sticker are now available. Check out the merch page. Shirts should be coming soon.

August 2, 2012 - New logo drumhead.

July 29, 2012 - Due to personal reasons, Jeremy (drums) and Randall (bass) have decided to leave the band. Though it may be perceived as bad blood or douchey band politics when the entire rhythm section leaves, but, its not the case here. Sometimes real life just happens. Jeremy and Randall will always be part of the Aittala family and it was a pleasure to have them in the band.
With that said, Aittala moves forward with new members.
Gary 'Zeus' Smith and Brandon Arrington join on drums and bass respectively. We look forward to playing shows in the near future!

June 4, 2012 - Back in business! Haunt Your Flesh is back for sale at your favorite digital retailer through the new distributor.

May 8, 2012 - We're in the process of moving Haunt Your Flesh to a new distributor, so if you can't find it for sale on iTunes or any other digital store, it will be back up soon!

May 6, 2012 - Review of Haunt Your Flesh from Metal Underground

Excerpt from the write up:
"It feels like a little bit of a contradiction to praise a heavy metal act for lightening up, but that's just what makes "Haunt Your Flesh" such an improvement over Aittala's first album, "Bed Of Thorns." Oh, to be sure, Eric Aittala's still singing about doomy topics ranging from sadomasochistic sex to suicide and the apocalypse, but he's mostly abandoned the goth-kid mopey tone that dominated "Bed Of Thorns." It doesn't hurt that his songwriting and playing is even sharper on the instrumental side of the equation."

March 23, 2012 - Review of Haunt Your Flesh from Raise Thy Horns

Excerpt from the write up:
"Haunt Your Flesh features some seriously catchy tracks that I find myself coming back to. The opener, "Blackmail," is a terrific fist-pumper that you'll be singing along with in no time. Same thing goes for "Eternal Punishment" or "Human Waste." Aittala knows what he does well, and he does it. He never attempts anything ambitiously fast or technically challenging, and the result is a groovy, enjoyable album. The guy is a clearly talented guitarist, but his soloing stays within the realms of melodic and tasteful."

February 9, 2012 - Review of Haunt Your Flesh from Metal Express

Excerpt from the write up:
"Bands like this need some love, because there are far too many bands (especially here in the United States) who go around claiming to be the most unique band out there and talk about how awesome they are. Usually they’re just a bunch of boners who think they sound a thousand times better than they actually do. AITTALA on the other hand, is a truly original band, and yet they appear to keep a pretty modest attitude about it."

October 6, 2011- Write up of Haunt Your Flesh on Metal Delirium

Excerpt from the write up:
"From the opening track 'Blackmail' and 'Holocaust' (the latter of which is featured on the compilation) and down to 'Haunt Your Flesh' show off the heavier side of the band. While 'New Day' and 'Juliet' take you on a progressive musical journey full of acoustic guitars, synths, and keyboards. The final song 'Remember' is one of the more beautiful songs you could listen to. Entirely acoustic and it shows off how good of a songwriter Eric Aittala actually is"

September 6, 2011- New review of Haunt Your Flesh from Heavy Metal Time Machine

Excerpt from the review:
"Eric Aittala obviously spent some time over the last year or so sharpening his writing and his playing because the album shows a definite improvement in both. The style is somewhere between metal and hard rock with both older and newer influences mixed throughout. The is a definite dark mood to many songs, but Aittala seem very comfortable in that realm and the lyrics help to shape that approach as well."

August 30, 2011 - Live pics added to the Images section. Live videos coming soon.
We'll be on a hiatus from live shows for about the next 3-4 months while Eric recovers from shoulder surgery, but work will continue on new videos. More info soon.

August 2, 2011 - New review of Haunt Your Flesh from metalrules.com

Excerpt from the review:
"I’m pleased to say that, while not perfect, Aittala’s second offering is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor. The production is clear and strong and Aittala’s vocals, while not technically great like a Halford or Dio, do have a distinctive strength that makes them instantly identifiable. As for the music, it is also much improved. He’s played to his strengths and ditched the aimless industrial leanings and just focused on writing good, solid hard rock/heavy metal songs"

July 22, 2011 - New review of Haunt Your Flesh from metalattorney.blogspot.com

Excerpt from the review:
"This is a very dynamic and versatile album musically. Eric Aittala appears to be the only member of the band, tackling all of the vocals and music, except perhaps the drums. He does not seem to like to sit still in one style for very long either. Pigeonholing the Aittala sound is extraordinarily difficult because each song is unique. At times it sounds like later-era Iced Earth with Barlow on vocals, at times it sounds like a less angry Pantera, and a whole lot in between."
